This is a 12" imitation eagle feather with a strip of porcupine quillwork
down the center of the feather.
To work with porcupine quills, you have
to soak them in water in order to soften them. Then the ends are cut
and
take your fingernail and run down the quill to flatten it. Then the
design begins. It is designed on a small piece of
hide and attached
to the quill. There is a lot of time and creativity in this beautiful feather.
