This stunning piece was inspired by the Mayan civiliztion. The snake and skull handle was carved in great detail from a deer antler. The picture doesn't do justice to the fine craftsmanship.
The handle alone is supurb! It's 5" long and is attached to a 10" steel blade, held together with elk sinew and pitch. There were over 100 hours into carving the handle, which was later dyed to appear old.
