This 'plains pipe' represents the most common style of pipe in
use throughout the period.
The Indian's ceremonial pipe was
often the plains style pipe, and because the ceremonial pipe
was used to bind a treaty
or a period of peace, this style of pipe
came to be widely known as the 'Peace Pipe' This pipe has no
beadwork or fringe.
The pipe bowl is made from pipestone. When
not in use, it is proper to have the stem and bowl separated and
the bowl
wrapped in a red felt cloth.
